The Best Back Pain Relief
When you are suffering from back pain there are certain things that you can do to make it better. Take bed rest if you need it but try to get up as soon as you feel a little better. When resting, it is always better to lie on your back and not on your stomach with your face downwards. Try not to rest for more than two days. Get up and carry on with your daily activities but be careful and take it slow. If bed rest continues for a long time then the muscles get weaker and this can make the pain worse.
If you have had an injury then try to apply an ice pack for the first twenty four hours or so. There is a certain method to applying ice, you can put the pack over the affected area for about twenty minutes and then take it off and leave the area to breathe for about thirty minutes. Repeat the same pattern. After about twenty four hours, apply a hot compress onto the area.
Cold packs can be useful tools for reducing strained or pulled muscles in your back. Learn more about how cold packs can help you from a certified physical therapist Dr. Karen Pryor of Expert Village in this video.
You could also take a hot bath for twenty minutes or so. This will help the muscles to stretch. The next thing to do is to throw away the soft mattress if you have one and get a new hard mattress for the comfort and well being of your back. When you have done that, it is time for you to get some sleep in order to relax your body and mind completely for quite some time. Remember to lie on your side or your back with a pillow in-between your knees.

The next best back pain relief method is to ask a friend or a family member to massage your back when lying down on your bed or couch, they should do this slowly, by rubbing the affected area with light pressure. When the back muscles are kneaded in this way, it increases the blood circulation and makes your pain better.

The final thing that you can do is to relax is by meditating. This relieves the tension and stress that you might be experiencing. Stress and tension in your mind often results in physical pain too. That is why it is really important that you practice meditation regularly. This will not only make your pain better but also help all of your body to stay calm and fit and healthy.
