Yoga For Back Pain Relief

Many people benefit from yoga when attempting to relieve their back pain. Yoga is now a very popular natural remedy in treating ailments, including pain in your back. When you perform yoga regularly for a long period of time, it actually increases the flexibility in your body and makes you stronger physically than before. It tightens the weak muscles and loosens the stiff muscles that are often the result of the pain your back. There are yoga poses specifically meant for back support. However, it is extremely important that you consult your doctor before starting any exercise for back pain.

Yoga is an excellent form of exercise which combines strength with flexibility and balance.

The basic yoga poses for beginners are described below. Firstly, lie down on your back, bend your knees, keep your feet on the ground and your hands by your side. Now warm up your back by doing tilts in your pelvic region. Repeat this at least five times. The next pose is to put a support block beneath your sacrum. Press on your feet to slide it in and out. You should remain in that position for a few minutes. The third one requires a yoga strap. For this pose keep one leg straight and slowly stretch the other upright at ninety degrees using the strap for support. Do the same with the other leg. These are some of the yoga poses for beginners.

There are many exercises to keep the back flexible, stretched and relaxed. Some of these help in making the core muscles of the spine flexible, while others help in controlling the extension and flexibility of the spinal cord. The standing yoga poses help in maintaining the correct alignment of the body, with the hips and the hamstring muscles stretched. Incorrect alignment often becomes a problem and creates pain in the back. While it is difficult for some people with back pain to do standing poses, if they are tried regularly, it actually improves your posture and help in curing the back pain.
